The economy is bad; my internet sales are dropping fast, so I made the decision to re-fit my yacht and charter it out. The local economy in the village of Koh En, Phuket, is in a worse situation than most others, as the villagers there rely totally, on foreign yachts mooring at “Yacht Haven Marina” and the maintenance, refitting etc. associated with them. This year saw far less customers than in previous years and followed the steep decline in tourist numbers over the whole country. I made the decision to go for a low cost charter, which would attract Thai as well as foreign customers. I have used village labor throughout the refit and took my yacht out of the water onto a local hardstand, which although it had less facilities than the “foreign owned” ones, and was far less flash, was quite adequate (also a lot cheaper!).
We are now ready to sail, and I already have one long term customer, who we will take out 3 days every month and this alone, will cover all ongoing maintenance along with a full time live aboard watch man.
My Thai wife and I, along with our local crew, look forward to meeting you, then taking you out on a truly amazing cruise, that we promise you will remember for a long time.
Ian Newton.
We have just put our boat back in the water, after a complete
refit. I went through everything from the keel up. When you are at sea,
you need to know, that you can rely on your boat. Safety, safety, safety.
She got a repaint and we went over the whole boat. As you can see,
only the best hardwood has been used, making our boat very strong!
